SPEED society Sweepstakes
DESCRIPTION
I did a test edit for Speed Society for one of their sweepstakes cars, showcasing the custom 767 HP CTS-V3 by Vengeance Racing.
Tasked with condensing 45 minutes of raw footage into a 30 second promo, here is what I was able to achieve.

HIGHLIGHTS
hop in
Despite not having much footage of the car’s interior, I knew from the beginning that I wanted to use it. After a few opening shots of the exterior, I wanted to take the viewer into the driver’s seat to feel the power behind this intense piece of machinery, just before we see it taken to the streets. This zoom transition helps with that perspective change while the zoom into the speedometer accentuates the engine’s roar.
and we’re off
This moment was as much a transition in tempo as it was a transition in footage, taking the viewer outside to demonstrate the high speed performance of the CTS-V3. I found the burnout footage to be perfect for this shift in look and rhythm, as it made sense with regard to the vehicle’s starting motion and provided great color contrast for a nice gradient wipe effect.
Working with what’s given
While scrubbing through the 45 minutes worth of footage, I found this shot where the camera operator zoomed into the vehicle two times. I liked the natural, dynamic movement it gave the shot and immediately knew I wanted to incorporate it. I added the third zoom myself and synced the whole thing up to some horns in my song of choice, creating one of my favorite moments in the video.
Same car, different shot
My goal for these two shots was to transition between them in a way that made it feel like one continuous shot. After some position and scaling adjustments that got me close to what I was looking for, I decided to “punch in” on the front of the car to finish the transition and effectively hide the harsh cut.
